Recruiting, Rosters and Procedures Working Group

Mandate

This WG develops strategies and initiatives to guide the collective's shared effort to recruit new volunteers. The WG manages the introduction of volunteers to the collective and to the site, and is also responsible for general training for kitchen volunteers and for arranging the weekly kitchen roster.

This WG is involved in developing, documenting, organising and communicating common kitchen procedures with a view of generalising the resulting structures and formats for other WGs.

What does this WG do?

  • Recruiting:
    • Develop and execute new strategies and initiatives for recruitment of new volunteers.
    • The recruitment of new volunteers is a shared responsibility for all volunteers; this WG provides guidance and assistance to this shared effort.
  • Training:
    • Briefly introduce new volunteers to:
      • The site and site facilities
      • TSS organisation and operations
    • Kitchen: provide detailed walkthrough of working day
    • Develop and revise training material
  • Rostering:
    • Fill the weekly kitchen roster
    • Maintain current register of volunteers
  • Procedures:
    • Discuss and document agreed guidelines for common procedures
    • Communicate the procedure to all volunteers e.g. write training material, signage
    • Revise procedures as operations evolve

What are the aims of the WG?

  • Procedures:
    • To develop a format for writing quick-to-read, easy-to-follow guidelines for common procedures e.g. using checklists
    • To document agreed minimum standards
    • To avoid over-prescriptive guidelines
    • To provide guidance for new volunteers.
